ABOUT US

About the Gray Family Foundation

The Gray Family Foundation is a family-led organization dedicated to improving youth mental health across Prince Edward Island. Guided by our belief in strong, healthy communities, we support innovative, community-based initiatives that provide better resources and support for Island youth.

Our granting focuses on grassroots organizations leading projects that make a measurable impact. We favour matching and challenge grants to inspire collaboration and shared commitment, and while we are primarily proactive, we welcome applications from qualified charities aligned with our mission.

At the heart of our work is a simple goal: helping PEI’s next generation thrive through stronger mental health programs, lasting partnerships, and a shared vision of resilience and hope.

Wayne and Doreen Gray

Our History

The Gray Family Foundation was established in 2014 by Wayne Gray and his family, inspired by the values of integrity, generosity, and service that shaped their lives and work. Wayne began his entrepreneurial journey in 1979 with Gray's Optical, which later grew into Vogue Optical, a company built alongside his wife Doreen, whose kindness, community spirit, and quiet generosity touched countless people. Although Doreen passed in 1999, her influence continues to guide the family's ongoing commitment to giving back.

Following the sale of Vogue Optical in 2014, the family shifted their focus to The Gray Group, a real estate and development company rooted in the same principles that defined Wayne and Doreen's partnership. From the beginning, the Foundation supported community organizations such as the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the IWK Health Centre, and the Prince County Hospital, reflecting the Gray family's long-standing belief in strengthening essential services across the Island.

In 2022, the Foundation adopted a new mandate dedicated to improving youth mental health across Prince Edward Island. Through targeted grants and partnerships with local organizations, the Foundation continues the Gray family's belief that empowering young people helps build a brighter and healthier future for all. This work is further supported by the family's other businesses, including Fox Meadow Golf Course, Holiday Haven Campground, and H-Line Enterprises.

Our Impact

Since its founding in 2014, the Gray Family Foundation has supported a wide range of causes, adapting its mission to reflect the growing and changing needs of Islanders.
